I've finished a new song called Our Neighbourhood. It's a love song on some easy-listening tip about our neighbourhood and the joys of walking its streets with headphones on. It's also about memory and the manner in which we take our experiences and transport them with us wherever we are, and maybe some other wierd hippy stuff.
Our Neighbourbood
deer, plant, root and steam
bubble up
eyes turn and agree
some strange animal
lives in our neighbourhood
with a heart
so broad and giving
a strange animal
lives in our neighbourhood
thick paint on its skin...
and glass green take it away away
but it never leaves here
this is its home
and its mine
dust mask and the rust
don't hide us
(chorus)
walk, fly, away
forget back
they're all where we go
loud speaker soft
in the air
away where I walk
and with ears aglow
aglow I'll sail away
the street at my side
I'll sail away away
to this place I keep here forever
children awake
in the night
ghost run in the rain
their paws wet
(chorus)
bones built on a rock
old and new
eyes tiger in snow
alone alone
feeding on itself
as it has
for hundreds of years
a strange animal
lives in our neighbourhood
thick paint on its skin
its eyes aglow aglow
in red pepper snow and away
I will go but no
way I'll forget
fur, teeth and tail
kasayo
(chorus)
feel the vibe from here to Asia, dip trip flip fantasia

this is a beautiful song. very pretty. oh my, the sudden change in the sound of the vocals around 1:45 sounds wonderful.
superlatives galore for you!!!
nice harmonies. you are a very talented musician/songwriter/composer/person/whatever
I'm writing this as I listen to it, by the way, so that's why things'll come up in succession. this breakdown or whatever you call it in the middle is really cool too.
and wow, this guitar "solo" at the end was unexpected. led zeppelin?
ha ha 6:33.. the keyboard slide down.. hilarious (not to be laughing AT your song, but rather laughing WITH it).
gee, this is my new favourite song.
done.
You're too kind, gracias. 6:33 - I was recording some other track and hit the keyboard by accident, oops!
It's very U2 (vocally) + Arcade Fire (bass drummily).
It is also very excellent. The singing is especially good.
Yeah, right? The chorus totally reminds me of U2. Not sure where that came from, though I guess I've done a few of their numbers in little karaoke rooms recently...hmm. Thanks for the kudos.
Sustained notes (especially the falsetto ones) + delay = Bono
But it's good!
